Infinite Craft Elements Recipes — Every Basic Element & Starting Combination

Every Infinite Craft element traces back to four starting blocks — Water, Fire, Earth, and Wind. There is no hidden unlock, no secret prerequisite, no letter puzzle. Everything you will ever build in the game descends from these four, and the first combinations you discover in the opening minutes decide how fast the rest of the game opens up.

This page organises the element branch by tier — the order in which the elements actually become available. Tier 1 is the four starting blocks. Tier 2 is what you build in the first two minutes. Tier 3 is where the game stops being a chemistry set. Tier 4 is where the branch splits into the specialised trees that every other page on this site builds on. If you are looking for a specific element like Planet in Infinite Craft or Life in Infinite Craft, those have their own dedicated pages.

The element pyramid

Four tiers — narrow at the top, broad at the bottom
Tier 1 4 starting elements
Water, Fire, Earth, Wind. These are what you begin with. Nothing in the game exists without them.
Tier 2 10 first-generation elements
Steam, Plant, Dust, Lake, Wave, Smoke, Lava, Mountain, Volcano, Tornado. Each one is a direct combination of two Tier 1 elements — no intermediate step.
Tier 3 12 second-generation elements
Tree, Dandelion, Ocean, Cloud, Mud, Sand, Fog, Rain, Ash, Ice, Storm, River. These require a Tier 2 element as an input. This is where the game opens up.
Tier 4 6 foundational elements
Life, Engine, Planet, Human, Electricity, Metal. Not "basic" — these are the elements that every other branch depends on. Life leads to biology, Engine to vehicles, Planet to space.
📸 What the element branch looks like

The screenshots below are from three save files at different tiers. Together they show the four starting elements, the first generation built from them, and the second generation that opens the rest of the game.

Tier 2 — the first generation. All ten Tier 2 elements after about two minutes of play.

Tier 3 — the second generation. Tree, Ocean, Cloud and Mud on the canvas. This is where branches begin to separate.

💧 Tier 1 — the four starting elements

There is not much to say about these four. They are what the game gives you. You cannot make them, you cannot unlock them, and they never disappear. The entire branch — and every other branch on the site — is built on top of them. Water, Fire, Earth, Wind. That is the whole foundation.

Combines with Water to make Wave, with Fire to make Smoke, and with Earth to make Dust. The fastest route to the weather branch.

💨 Tier 2 — the ten first-generation elements

These ten are what you build in the first two minutes. Every one of them is a direct combination of two Tier 1 elements — no intermediate step required. Steam, Plant, and Dust are the three that matter most: Steam leads to Engine, Plant leads to Tree, and Dust leads to Planet. The other seven are useful but narrower in scope.

🌳 Tier 3 — the twelve second-generation elements

Tier 3 is where the game stops being a chemistry set and starts being a world. Every element here requires at least one Tier 2 element as an input. Tree, Ocean, and Cloud are the three most important — Tree opens the forest branch, Ocean opens the marine branch, and Cloud opens the weather branch. The other nine fill in the gaps that other categories will need later.

⚡ Tier 4 — the six foundational elements

Tier 4 is where the element branch stops and the specialised branches begin. These six are not "basic" — they are the elements that other categories depend on. Life opens biology. Engine opens vehicles and technology. Planet opens space. Human opens characters. Electricity opens computers. Metal opens engineering. Every page in the recipes hub eventually traces back to one of these six.

🧭 Where the element branch takes you next

The element branch is not a destination — it is a launchpad. Once the Tier 2 and Tier 3 elements are in your library, six other Infinite Craft recipe categories become accessible. These are the six most direct paths from the element branch.

➡️ Pick a branch and start building

You have the four starting blocks and the pyramid above. The next move is to pick one of the three branches that Tier 4 unlocks and follow it. Most players start with Life because it opens the widest set of other recipes, but any of the three below works as a first target.

❓ Questions players ask about elements

What are the basic elements in Infinite Craft?

The four starting elements are Water, Fire, Earth, and Wind. You begin the game with these and nothing else. Every other element in the game — including every recipe on this page and every other page on the site — is built by combining them, directly or indirectly.

Which element should I build first?

Build Steam (Water + Fire), Plant (Water + Earth), and Dust (Earth + Wind) first. Those three take seconds and unlock every other recipe on this page. Steam leads to Engine, Plant leads to Tree, and Dust leads to Planet.

Why do some elements take longer than others?

Tier 3 elements require a Tier 2 element as input, so they take two combinations to reach. The Tier 4 elements like Life and Human take much longer — Life alone requires seven combinations through Steam and Venus. This is why the pyramid shows them in separate tiers, even though they all look similar in your sidebar.

Do I need to build elements in a specific order?

Not strictly. The four starting elements are always available, and Tier 2 elements can be built in any order. That said, Steam → Engine and Dust → Planet are the two fastest paths to other branches, so building Steam and Dust early saves time later.
